“Only when the tide goes out can you see who was swimming naked”. That is not a pun on Alabama although it may be apropos based on their performance against Utah in the Sugar Bowl. However, if the ol’ adage holds true that the bowl games are truly a litmus test then the Big-12 is failing miserably, particularly the defenses are coming under fire as they have all given up a ton of points throughout the bowl season. Up and down the B-12 Dec/Jan resume offenses have had their way, beginning with Northwestern (very average offense) 23 vs. Mizzu, Ole Miss 47 vs. TTech, and OSU 21 on Texas (NFL Bound Beanie Wells playing only ½ game). So is the praise for those high-octane B-12 teams built on fraudulent information? Is the BCS Championship game going to be another SC/OU type blowout? If the litmus test holds true then 4 points will not be nearly enough as the Gators could drop a ‘fidy’ spot the Sooners. Conversely, if all of the negative hype, including this blog, has angered the Sooner D enough to rise up, then their Offense will get plenty of opportunities to showcase the Heisman winner, and we (the general public) may finally get a game worthy of the name like we did with the Horns and Trojans.

Hey Smacchat, I only need to give you 2 reasons why Oklahoma will win:
1. The players have had it the media. Especially ESPN, but really almost every media outlet. This almost by itself guarantees an OU win.
2. Florida will not be able to stop the OU offense. We have too many weapons and Young Mr. Bradford WILL find the single cover receivers. The only way that UF can stop us is to play with 12 or 13 on defense and the last time I checked that will draw a flag from the officials. Play a zone, and we'll run the ball. Blitz and he'll find the slant or throw the quick out. They have done it all year and no one has stopped them. This is by far the best offense I have ever seen. The ONLY chance that UF has, is to knock Bradford out of the game.
These are also the same reasons UF will lose.
OU- 56 (we do not kick field goals)
UF -27 (because they will kick 2 in the first and second quarters)
Oklahoma's offensive line is going to dominate the pass rush of Florida. If OU puts pressure on Tebow it's over.
If Utah had to play Florida, USc, OU, Texas, georgia, Texas tech, etc. They would lose a couple of those. They played a hampered Alabama whose o-line was basically their second and third team. It made a majjor difference in that game. Utah although a good team. Could not and would not be able to go undeafeated playing higher caliber teams week in and week out. The same thing can be said about USC, they can't get through a season in the weak pac ten without going undeafeated, Florida and OU play tough teams week in and week out. The only real argument here is that Texas did beat OU on a nuetral field, and head to head should have been the breakdown in that situation, even though Texas Tech beat texas, it was on a miracle last second play. Texas handled OU. The national championship game should have been Texas and the Gators, With all that being said, The gators are the best TEAM in the country and should win tonight, go GATORS.
That is what needs to happen...the NCAA/BCS/power 6 will have a tough time scheduling a 12 game season if the MAC, WAC, Mountain West, etc, all pack up their $h.it and start their own playoff. I think it's time for the conference commisioners and university presidents to get their acts together and make this happen. With all the stuff pete carroll talked, he would have to join in as well, now wouldn't he? All the East coast bias nonsense could go away too, with the west starting their own playoff and eventually absorbing the holdouts. That is of course if these schools really want a piece of the big boys...i have a feeling that some schools would rather go undefeated and bleat about the unfair system and crow about their imaginary NC, rather than play the games required and risk losing 2 or 3 along the way. Maybe not, but when time comes to $h.it or get off the pot, many schools continue to opt for the status quo and throw up their hands rather than take action. This is not a hard problem to fix, it is one of motivation and willingness to make a change starting with the bottom up. The top teams have no reason to change things, they are benefitting, duh!
Can Utah beat Bama caliber teams three or four times a year? I am sure you say that now since they are fresh off that win, but look at yourself in the mirror anwer the question then punch yourself in the face because you are wrong.
Smacchat, you waited until the last line of the blog to state the most important reason why OU will win the NCG. The best thing going for OU, it seems to me, is the defense's anger arising from a lack of respect from Florida's players and sports writers everywhere. They will be ready to play, to say the least. I agree, though, that if OU wins, it probably will not be by much and almost certainly because they beat Florida in a shootout.
